Clinkle received a $25 million round of seed financing from top venture capital firms and angel investors — the largest early investment in Silicon Valley history. Then the startup got $5 million more from Stanford’s StartX fund and Virgin CEO Richard Branson. Nine months and several rounds of layoffs later, Clinkle has yet to launch publicly.
