A report released Wednesday from the Knight Foundation found that mobile news consumption is up only 9% from the past year, representing a significant drop in growth compared to previous periods, reports Benjamin Mullin. News apps experienced a particularly stagnant year, thanks to an increase in time spent on social media. The report also found that “local and regional outlets have been slower to migrate toward the capabilities needed to become ‘digital-first’ operations.”
