Eric Scherer, director of future media at French broadcaster France Télévisions, told a Cannes conference this weekend that television needs to adopt a mobile-first strategy that acknowledges mobile as the first screen for consumers. He also called for “a new syntax, a new grammar, a new vocabulary” for news spurred by the rise of social apps, and called for both the necessity of using consumer data while being mindful of its potential abuse.
