Pandora is launching a pilot test that lets music artists send audio messages to their fans, Jason Del Rey reports. Pandora’s founder Tim Westergren says that presently only a small number of artists, including Lenny Kravitz, are involved, but that he expects the Artist Audio Messaging to widen, allowing the artists to announce new albums, tours or to provide context for their songs. Artists already have a free analytics service from Pandora giving them more information about their listeners.
